Abstract:

The basic aim of the RADPROF project is to maintain, on an interim basis, a minimum observational time series system to continue the ocean hydrography monitoring in the region of Galicia-Cantabrian Sea which started in 2003 under the National Plan project VACLAN and continued as the COVACLAN the project. Both projects, especially the second, sought the consolidation of the series in the Cantabrian-Galicia region as image of major international programs developed by leading countries in oceanographic field. Today, there is a strong national and international consensus about the need for such monitoring systems for the proper understanding of the evolution of climate and ocean ecosystems in a climate change scenario, yet has not been achieved backbone homogeneous structure as well as international sources of finance continued for such purposes. In this context, the project RADPROF arises as an activity renewable yearly to support the campaign RADPROF2015 which will be the continuation of 19 previous campaigns, and equivalent future cruises. In this cruise there will be carried out the fundamental sections of Finisterre, and if possible it will be attempted to replace the mooring line at Finisterre, which was lost in 2011. The project will involve the monitoring program linked to the AGL buoy and the project MODUPLAN (on biological communities in deep ocean waters)
